Before he was ranked the #1 Featherweight contender and ranked as one of the best pound for pound fighter. Growing up, like many young irish young boys Conor McGregor thought his future would be playing football but he later came to the realization that soccer was for girls and he preferred himself a good fight. Then his parents relocated to a new town, without friends the then quiet Conor began boxing and kickboxing. For a short time he took on a trade as a plumber but despised it and was living off the government for some time as he trained for the day he would make a name for himself in the UFC. Conor Anthony McGregor 14 July 1988 and spend his early years growing up in Crumlin, a suburb of Dublin. His parents Tony and Mags were from working class families and scraped by to support both Conor and his older sister Erin. The family lived in Crumlin for 12 years, here Conor made bonds with all his close pals – he played football for Lourdes Celtic Football Club and supported Manchester United in the English Premier League. Not much of a lover, but a fighter he would hold his own in fights and scraps were common amongst the youth in Dublin. Right next to his football club was the Crumlin Boxing Club where Conor would pop in every so often but still hadn’t taken the sport very seriously. This is until a move to a new town had him pent up with a lot of frustration.
